Today We Will Have Cake

I cannot believe its been 2 year since this beauty came into my life.
Where does the time go?  Well, we have been pretty busy...

 Stopping to smell the roses
Having a ball
 Just hangin' around
  Modeling
Learning to drive
 Making new friends
Amongst all the giggles and nonsense that this little girl provides, it is milestones like these that make me realize just how lucky we are to have her in our lives.

Rewind to about 3 1/2 years ago when the hubs and I decided that we needed just one more addition to our apparently not active enough lives.  Since I was thought to be a fertile myrtle who has the magical power of splitting eggs, we thought we'd have no problem getting pregnant on the first try...well, it took about 3 months.  We were ecstatic and wanted the perfect opportunity to share the amazing news with all our family.  Conveniently enough, I host Easter dinner for both of our families and that Easter I was exactly 8 weeks along.  We went all out and had shirts made for the boys to announce the big news.  Everyone was excited and shocked (probably more at the fact that we kept it a secret) to learn that there would soon be a new baby!  Even more exciting was that my due date fell right smack between my best friend and my sister in law's due dates...life couldn't be better!

The next day I found myself at the happiest place on earth when pregnant, my midwives' office.  I was soon showered with forms, hugs, and my first golden ticket to see my little peanut on ultrasound.  By Wednesday I was in for my ultrasound and everything changed.  The ultrasound was showing the baby wasn't as far along as it should have been so the easiest conclusion was that I was off on my dates....however, we were trying...I knew I wasn't off on my dates...

We were instructed to wait the hardest week of our lives for HCG blood draws every 2 days and an ultrasound a week later.  We were back in the ultrasound office and we got some scary, but encouraging results...the egg had split, which meant twins, but still no fetal development.  So we were once again instructed to continue the blood draws and have another ultrasound.  So here I was 10 weeks pregnant, scared to death, and back in the ultrasound office...then our world crashed around us.  There was no development and my HCG levels were steadily dropping.  I was told, "these things happen", "next time will be different", "it's not your fault," and many other words put together that meant nothing to me at that moment...I was sent home to miscarry.  And for almost a week I went each day knowing that at any moment I would no longer be pregnant.  At almost 11 weeks I finally miscarried and left with an unexplainable void.

Days turned into weeks and we were instructed to wait 2 cycles before trying again....well, apparently there were other plans in order as we were pregnant within less than 2 months of my miscarriage.  I vowed to never return to an ultrasound or appointment by myself as I didn't know how I could handle another blow.  With the hubs by my side we were back in for an ultrasound and we were blessed to see the tiniest flicker of a heartbeat...and much more...hope!  Well, that hope grew and so did our baby and we spent the next 9 months excited, scared, nervous, and anxiously awaiting the birth of our baby girl.

On February 25, 2009 at 7:32 pm, 1 day after my due date and almost 1 year after my miscarriage, we welcomed Kamryn Kelly Cody into the world, our lives, an our family.
And now 2 years later here we are!
Thank God for the baby we were never privileged to meet and for the little girl we were always meant to have.

Happy Birthday Miss Kami!

Thrifty Thursday

Check out these awesome deals I snagged at Rite-Aid today...

The grand total for this little bundle...only $41.94!  I love, love, love scoring great deals and being able to stock up!  Now I am by no means a hoarder, but I cannot tell you how much I love not having to run out at 8:30pm because we are out of diapers, shampoo, or whatever else we ran out of that didn't make it in the cart on my last shopping trip!

An extra 20-30 minutes a week clipping coupons, scanning the ads, and making lists is all worth it to me when I get lots of products free, dirt cheap, and stock ups!  So yes I have 5 face washes up there, but when I got them for $0.84 each, I'm sure I can find room!

Owl Love You Forever

Wow!  What a week!  It has been quite a busy, crazy week filled with lots of love!

First, here is a little peek at what the hubs came home with on Valentines' Day!
Kami's Birthday Party 002
This was especially surprising as the hubs has always tried to implement the "no gift" rule or putting a really low limit to gift giving.  This is the first year I've actually stuck to it, if you remember my gift here.  I was super surprised and definitely not expecting it which made it THAT much sweeter!  Maybe next year we'll be on the same page!

Friday was supposed to be a relaxing night with both boys going to spend the night at each grandma's house and leaving the hubs, Kami, and I home to finish getting ready for Saturday's party and grab a quick dinner.  However, about 15 minutes in to the boys being gone I get this picture message...
0218011700
Needless to say that landed us all reunited at the local ER!  2 hours, 2 nurses, 1 doctor, 1 tube of lidocaine, and 3 stitches later he was all put back together.  He was so ready to get out of there he decided to forgo the topical numbing medication and the little trooper didn't cry once!  Mommy on the other hand got a little dizzy there for a second!  This makes set #2 of stitches for Mr. Kyle.  He'll have lots of stories to tell his girlfriends when he gets older.  It was still nice to know that hugs from mom (and a popsicle) can still make everything right in the world.

After a 3 hour delay in our original plans we were back home and I was back in crafting world trying to get everything finished up for Kami's birthday party.  By 1:30 am I was finally done and able to go to bed, but not before waking up 3 times to write something down so I didn't forget it the next day.

Saturday morning came way too early and I definitely needed that extra shot in my latte to get things moving before 3:00 party time.  Surprisingly I was on schedule, all major disasters averted, and I was at Wildwood's Manor House setting up by noon.  I am quite the control freak so where as most people would like the extra help to setup I actually work better alone.  At least I'm not in denail about that fact.  So after about a month of planning here is how it turned out!

It was an unexpected bonus that the room's decor matched the color scheme.
